Drawn in by AI: Workshop for Faculty on using AI for research (National Library Week) In-Person / Online
Join Digital Resources Librarian, Sharon Clapp, on Thursday (4/10) of National Library Week, to learn about using AI in your research workflow. Designed for faculty members, her presentation will cover the challenges with using traditional LLM-based AI (such as ChatGPT / Copilot) and will offer alternatives better suited for scholarly research. She will include demonstrations of the Scite.AI tool. The library offers a license for all CCSU faculty, students, and staff to this AI-based smart citation index and AI Research Assistant (you will need a Bluenet ID which supports the single sign on authentication and will want to create a scite account so that you can use its history, dashboard, and report options.) Some of its features include:
- A ChatGPT-style Research Assistant
- A searchable smart citation index of over 110M articles, references, citations, and retractions
- A citation checker
- Dashboards to manage specific areas of research
- Scholarly profiles linked to ORCID IDs

Participants in this workshop also have the opportunity to pilot the brand-new high-tech/hyflex Proscenium classroom setup that IT has recently opened on the third floor of the library. IT is also trying out a process for booking this room. They are interested in faculty booking it for events, "visiting speakers" who may be remote, and even for their courses in coming semesters. If you have registered to be an "online participant," watch for a special email to be sent to you that will include a link to the special event platform (unfortunately, the remote link will not be available in this web calendar, as the url is individualized for each email attendee... the Proscenium system is managed by IT, so please contact Tech Support if you need any help with remote access.)
After the workshop, faculty participants are invited to spend some time at the National Library Week Faculty Appreciation Coffee Hour (11am-noon) on the library's 2nd Floor (in Special Collections).
